Trusts solicitors and estate administrators have concluded deals which will see Paisley Park, the private home and studio complex of the late music legend Prince, open to the public from October 6 this year.
It is believed that the Minneapolis estate’s trusts solicitors have reached an agreement with Graceland Holdings, the company that operates Elvis Presley’s Graceland estate, to run the 65,000 square foot complex.
“Opening Paisley Park is something that Prince always wanted to do and was actively working on,” said Prince’s sister.
“Only a few hundred people have had the rare opportunity to tour the estate during his lifetime. Now, fans from around the world will be able to experience Prince’s world for the first time as we open the doors to this incredible place.”
It is anticipated that millions of people will take up the opportunity to visit and tour the estate of the deceased pop star who, throughout his life, was noted for his reclusiveness almost as much as he was his immense and dedicated talent; Graceland has had around 20 million visitors since its opening in 1982, drawing in around $600,000 a year.
Prince was a Jehovah’s Witness with a vegan lifestyle and a reputation for clean, healthy living, so it came as a huge shock and surprise to his fans when it was confirmed that he had collapsed and died at the age of 57 as a result of an accidental overdose of the synthetic opioid fentanyl.
Trusts solicitors have helped lay down the terms under which fans will be able to view Prince’s most prized personal and professional possessions; archives “including iconic concert wardrobe, awards, musical instruments, artwork, rare music and video recordings, concert memorabilia, automobiles and motorcycles” are all likely to be put on show.
In addition, fans will be able to visit the studios where Prince recorded many of his best loved hits.
One difficulty facing those left with the business of the Paisley Park estate administration is that Prince left no Will; as such it is likely that Prince’s sister along with five half-siblings will be the sole beneficiaries of the Will although there is the possibility that courts might allow for Prince’s niece and grandniece to also share in the £200 plus estate.
