{"id":4201,"date":"2023-09-05T06:33:06","date_gmt":"2023-09-05T06:33:06","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/simplylaw.waydevelopers.com\/england-wales\/gps-suspended-over-patient-safety-concerns\/"},"modified":"2024-04-11T14:57:40","modified_gmt":"2024-04-11T14:57:40","slug":"gps-suspended-over-patient-safety-concerns","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/simply.law\/england-wales\/blog\/gps-suspended-over-patient-safety-concerns\/","title":{"rendered":"GPs suspended over patient safety concerns"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Three GPs at a Birmingham practice have been suspended over concerns about the safety of patients.<\/p>\n<p>Great Barr Medical Practice had its registration with the Care Quality Commission suspended earlier this month over the issues, after an unannounced inspection in April \u201cconfirmed the collective concerns\u201d, the NHS Black Country Integrated Care Board (ICB) said.<\/p>\n<p>A team from Sandwell and West Birmingham NHS Trust is working with staff at the practice to provide continued access to services for patients.<\/p>\n<p>A local online neighbourhood forum included posts from people commenting on the poor service they said they had received at the surgery with some saying they had lodged complaints.<\/p>\n<p>Dr Mona Sidhu, medical director of primary care for the ICB, said it had been working with the CQC following concerns about the quality of care at the surgery.<\/p>\n<p>Dr Sidhu said \u201cWe support the decision to suspend the contract with the existing GP Partners whilst improvements are made.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cPatient safety and welfare is our top priority and we are working hard to ensure patients continue to have access to primary care services.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAny patients who are registered at Great Barr Medical Practice will continue to access services in the same way, but they will be seen at the site by other GPs who we have brought in to caretake this contract.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Chadwick Lawrence\u2019s Legal 500 recommended West Yorkshire medical negligence solicitors, have over 20 years of experience and specialist expertise in medical negligence investigations and claims, supporting injured clients and their families through the legal process and helping them obtain answers, justice and compensation after life-changing events.
