There are conditions for applying under UK immigration law as well as certain documents which must be provided. You are allowed to stay in the UK for five years on this visa. Or if you prefer you can select a lawyer yourself to connect with online from the list on this page.<\/p>\n<h2>Ancestry visas<\/h2>\n<p>In order to be eligible to receive an ancestry visa for the UK you must fulfil certain conditions:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>you must be applying from outside the UK<\/li>\n<li>you must be a Commonwealth citizen<\/li>\n<li>you must be able to prove that at least one of your grandparents was born in the UK<\/li>\n<li>you must be both able to and planning to work in the UK<\/li>\n<li>fulfil all of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gov.uk\/ancestry-visa\/eligibility\">eligibility requirements<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>This is not a visa that can be changed from another visa (switched) and you will not be eligible to receive public funds during your time in the UK.<\/p>\n<h2>Ancestry visa documents<\/h2>\n<p>To support your application you must provide certain documents:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>your current passport (or other valid travel identification if appropriate)<\/li>\n<li>bank statements which confirm that you are able to support yourself<\/li>\n<li>a copy of your tuberculosis test results if you are in a country for which this applies<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Separately to these, you must also provide documents to prove your ancestry status:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>your full birth certificate<\/li>\n<li>the full birth certificates of the relevant parent and grandparent that your ancestry visa application is based on<\/li>\n<li>if your wife, husband or civil partner wishes to join you then you must provide your marriage certificate or civil partnership registration document<\/li>\n<li>the marriage certificates for your parents or grandparents<\/li>\n<li>legal adoption papers if you or your parents are adopted<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>Family members and your ancestry visa<\/h2>\n<p>You are allowed to work and study as well as bring family members, or dependants, into the UK with an ancestry visa \u2013 if they qualify.
