A wills expert is urging the public to seek professional guidance when writing a will.Richard Howard, from Fidler & Pepper Solicitors, has warned of the potential risks when a lawyer is not used to set out final wishes.<\/p>\n
The warning from the wills, trusts and probate specialist comes after several occasions where relatives have expressed concern to he and his team regarding the will of a family member. He stated that rather than professionals, online will-writing kits had been used.<\/p>\n
Commenting on the importance of writing a will, Richard stated: “Getting a Will is one of the most important things you could ever do, and getting the Will right is of paramount importance.<\/p>\n
“Why? Because if it is not set out correctly, or the wording does not meet the regulations, then it might well be meaningless. If it does not take into account a number of different issues, then it could be challenged successfully.”<\/p>\n
He went on to highlight the risks of a ‘quick-fix’ will, drawing attention to the potentially negative consequences which could occur later down the line.<\/p>\n
“Sometimes, Wills are even given out as a free gift when people buy financial products. What might look like a great thing to start with, could lead to complications afterwards.<\/p>\n
“Not only will people miss out, they could also be left with heavy legal and tax burdens too.”<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
